From the Goddard Space Flight Center’s Technical Information Bulletin Volume 4, Number 1, April 14 1967 –
“Formal dedication ceremonies and an open house for the public highlighted the official opening of the MSN Unified S-band tracking station at Corpus Christi, Texas on March 11.
The ribbon cutting ceremony for the station was a unique event. Jack R. Blackmon, Mayor Pro-tempore of Corpus Christi operated the 30-foot USB antenna. The moving antenna broke the ribbons stretched from the ground to the rim of the disk.
More than 70 guests were welcomed to the station by Henry Schultz, station director.
Among others on hand for the ceremony were H. William Wood, Head of Goddard’s Manned Flight Operations Branch; Richard A. Augenstein, Assistant Branch Head; William Easter, Goddard liaison representative; Rear Admiral R. A. MacPherson, USN, Chief of Naval Air Advance Training; and Sigurd Sjoberg, Deputy Assistant Director for Flight Operations, Houston Manned Spacecraft Center.”
