From the roof of the Apollo USB extension to the T&C building. At left, the 30 foot (9 metre) USB antenna.
The two white dishes pointing away to the horizon are for the tropospheric scatter radio link to Geraldton.

On the other side of the T&C building stood the S-Band Verloort Radar brought from Muchea (centre, with its 3 metre antenna in the stowed position).
At left are the two Gemini Acquisition Aid antennas.
In the foreground are some of the very necessary airconditioning units.
These photos were taken from the roof of the Apollo USB extension.

SPAN was a vital worldwide monitoring network set up by NASA to forewarn Apollo astronauts of solar-flare activity.
