Carnarvon
Trevor John Housley grew up in Sydney and studied Electrical Engineering at the University of New South Wales.
His father, Trevor Alfred Housley (1910 – 1968), had been Assistant to the General Manager of the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (Australia) from 1951, then General Manager 1956–1965. From 1965, he was appointed Director-General of the Postmaster-General's Department (Posts and Telegraphs).
Due to that background, younger Trevor decided on a career in a different sector. After a time with the New South Wales Railways, in early 1964, he obtained a position at the not-yet-opened Carnarvon Tracking Station in Western Australia.
In this wonderul and fascinating 75-minute interviews (recorded in October 2025), Trevor recalls many of his colleagues as well as the tracking systems at the station.
